I recently purchased a Chinese Origin 7 inch Tablet PC model identification DFP 7002A build October 2012 it has been very good value for money and worked well while in Thailand as a tablet and also a mobile phone on the DTAC network . Since returning to the UK I found that the tablet thought it was still in Thailand and refused to allow the new UK SIM to connect to the mobile network. I concluded after changing many settings and all the usual reboots etc that a software problem was the cause. I believe the android os on these Chinese units may not be all as genuine as they should be and adapted to suit themselves. However, not to be out done I thought that rooting and dealing with the ROM would be best thing to start with for further investigations. For the information to others and hopefully of some help I am writing about my progress so far and also to make complement to the developer who made it possible to root this tablet successfully and with out any bother. Making sure my tablet was usb connected to my main PC and also debug mode was on. Research on XDA led me to Bin4ry and his most helpful post, you can find that for your self and he has developed a rooting program I found a program called Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15.7z - I believe he has a further newer version now available. I ran this program carefully following all as his instructions and found that it did work. Now with Titanium Backup Pro I have backed up all my ROM and can start to delve into the OS and hopefully fix or replace the offending files that have caused me the problems. A thank you should be made to the many developers who are working and sharing their knowledge for the benefit of others in the community.
