I researched the whole forum in search of technical details about bootloader lock and the security block (s-on). But everywhere on the forum and the internet in general, there is only general descriptions, without any technical details of the process.
Especially interested in information about HTC bootloader hboot.
I know about unlocking bootloader via the website htcdev.com, about tools to remove the protection s-on (revolutionary.io, unrevoked.com, unlimited.io), but I want more - to understand what physical (software) processes occur during the operation of these tools.

There are a number of questions:
- What does the bootloader lock from the software point of view and from the hardware? Encryption, blocking access, particular hardware configuration or something else? Why when unlocking the are factory reset?
- What does the S-ON / S-OFF from the software point of view and from the hardware? What is possible to do with S-ON, and what is impossible?
- Can I disable protection (S-OFF) without unlocking the bootloader?
- Can I get a permanent root (only root) without unlocking the bootloader and off S-OFF?
