[Q] Where are action associations stored

When Android asks me, which App should perform an action (intent) and I select one of the proposed Apps and click to "Always", where does Android then store (persist) my selection?
I suppose, this must be in some file (where else?).
Does anyone of you know, in which file?
I would like to view (and maybe change) the contents of this file on my rooted phone.
I know, how to reset the associations of an given App, but this is not what I am looking for.
