MK808 Finless ROM 1.4 Custom ROM
Features in 1.4 ROM:
1) Fully rooted with the latest SU and SUperUser.apk
2) Debloated junk APPs.
3) Cleaned up the file system so it is not fragmented! Basicly I used linux tune2fs when making the images.
4) added a reboot APP that will allow you to reboot the device from the Android UI. No more unplugging the unit!
It will also allow you to reboot to ROM flash mode and later when add ClockWOrk Mod, it will reboot to recovery.
5) ADDED BONUS User APP space by default is only 1.5GB. I have increased that to 2Gig.
6) Two kernels to choose from! The original MK808 kernel from 9/12 which is said to have better CPU control
And the Geekbuy ROM 9/20 kernel. By default I setup the tool to use the 9/20 kernel. But if you
want to try the 9/12 kernel simply click the little box to the far right of the kernel line in the flash tool.
A file dialog will open and navigate to the FinlessROM folder and select the 9/12 kernel.
Note: you DO NOT have to erase everything to flash just the kernel! Simply unselect everything in the tool
except the kernel. Reboot to flash mode and flash just the kernel!
Is that simple to change kernels or what?
Note: In this ROM I believe have fixed one of the Wifi issues. That is APPs or Gplay reporting "no connection" even though Wifi shows as still connected. In fact sometime when it did this the only way was able to fix it was to turn Wifi off and back on! After applying patch for this, have not been able to recreate this problem so I believe it is fixed
was not able to fix the 65Mbps speed limit. I believe this will require a kernel update or it is possibly a limit of the 9301 wifi hardware. I cannot find spec on the 9301 chip to determine what its full capabilities are.

Special credits to :
1) Petrus for the reboot APP.
2) Daman for his boot screens and super fast bootanimation. So you know, Daman's boot Animation is only 2 screens and
very FAST. I tested and it only slows boot time by 7 seconds!

Instructions:
UNZIP THIS TO A FOLDER YOU CAN FIND EVERYTHING IN THE PACKAGE! You will be refering to this folder for drivers!
The hardest part is installing the drivers on your PC!
They are supplied in the ROM flash kit but you MUST follow the instructions to the letter to get them installed.
OK so with that said lets get to it.
To get the drivers installed we must FIRST put the mk808 into ROM flash mode!
So I am going to explain how to get the unit into flash mode.
To put the mk808 into flash mode the easy way:
1) Remove any SDcard you may have installed.
2) Connected the supplied USB cable from the device OTG port to your PC.
It will power up and windows may detect the device. DO not worry about that. We need it powered up.
3) In the ROM kit run the ROM FLash Tool.exe.
4) You should see at the bottom it says "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage USB"
If it does not say that go into settings and make sure that
a) USB storage is turned off
b) Under developer options, USB debugging is turned off
5) Once it says "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage Usb" in the flash tool click the "Reboot to Flash Mode" button.
6) Wait up to at least 10 seconds. The unit should reboot and the screen for the mk808 will be black (no ouptut).
7) If the unit does not reboot to a blank screen, repeats steps above
Congrats! You are now in flash mode! To get out of it at any time just unplug the USB power to the mk808.
It will boot back up normally out of flash mode.
If you do not ever see the flash tool say "Found RKAndroid MASS Storage USB" then use this manual proceedure.
1) Have the USB cable unplugged.
2) Near the HDMI port are 2 holes in each corner. One is the blue LED hole.
The other in the corner is a reset button under the hole.
Use a paper clip or something to push the reset button in this hole.
I actually enlarged the hole so a paper clip would fit.
You will feel the button "click" when you are on it.
3) Hold this button down and while holding it, plug the USB cable from the PC to the OTG port on the MK808.
4) YOu should here windows BONG it found a new device. The LED will not light!
5) You are now in ROM flash mode. Read below for installing drivers.
Driver install:
1) Now that we are in ROM flash mode as above, Windows should now have a new device found and it will be unknown.
2) Open the device manager in control panel. You should see a device listed as unknown with a yellow symbol in it.
3) RIGHT click on it and select "Update Driver".
4) You will get a dialog asking to search or browse my computer for the driver. Click Browse
5) On the next screen click the browse button. A file manager will open.
6) Now remember I told you to unzip this package to somewhere you know how to find it like the desktop?
7) Using the file manager point to this package, Click on the driver folder.
8) Then click on the folder for 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS.
9) Now click on your OS version, e.g. Win7, etc.
10) The OK button should now be available to click OK.
11) At this point the drivers should install. If not start over.
12) No matter what, reboot the PC now. Also unplug the mk808 and let it reboot
13) Once the PC is back up plug in the mk808 and repeat the steps for getting into flash mode!
14) Now this is important! If you did everything right when you go into flash mode (blank screen),
the PC FLash tool should now say at the bottom "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb"
If it does not, you did not get the drivers installed! repeat above yet again.
Flashing the ROM:
OK so you know how to get into flash mode AND you got the drivers installed.
The flash tool says at the bottom "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb". We are ready!
NOTE THIS WILL ERASE THE UNIT AND REMOVE ANY APP, MOVIES, WETC you may have put on it!
THis is a full erase! However to get the 1gig of APP space, WE MUST DO THIS.
So make sure anything you had was backed up.
1) DO NOT UNCHECK OR CHECK ANY OF THE BOXES IN THE ROM TOOL WINDOW! I have set this up to work just right!
If you uncheck or check something.... YOUR ON YOUR OWN IF YOU BRICK!!!!!
1) Press the button in the flash tool "Erase NAND (IDB)". Let it finish.
YOU MUST DO THIS OR THE FLASH WILL NOT WORK!!!!!
2) Press the "Flash ROM" button. It will take several minutes to do it's thing. Watch for errors!
3) After flash and no errors, the mk808 will reboot.
Notes:
If you got errors using the PC flash tool, then you have some kind of USB problem.
Some things to check:
1) Make sure you connect to a real USB port from the PC. NOT a USB hub or maybe even front panel USB ports!
2) Some older BIOS have a setting called "high speed USB". You may have to go into the BIOS and turn that off.
That was a crappy implementation of USB 3.0 that is not reliable.
3) Try connecting to USB 2.0 ports instead of 3.0 if you have them.
4) Try unplugging any other USB devices like removable disks, hubs, media readers, etc.
5) All else fails, try another PC.
Enjoy the new ROM with 2 gig of app space and better performance overall!
